I am not that big of a fan of Halloween... I don't really understand what we are celebrating. But, I do really like that I have very fond memories of trick-or-treating with my friends and coming home with the candy and what a fun time that was. Yesterday at lunch a group of us were sitting and talking about the traditions and memories of past halloweens, and our boss (who grew up in Sweden) didn't have anything to say (and she usually does). Of course she didn't! She didn't have the tradition. I suddenly felt a little sad for her that she couldn't relate... and I felt kinda glad that I did have such fond memories. I also feel a little sad for the kids these days that have to go trick or treating in malls or churches. That is not what trick or treating was for me... and they will never know that fun that I had. I wish that for them. Other than that...the whole dressing up for Halloween as an adult is not so fun. Except with men... they can get away with a whole lot more than women. Women seem to only succeed in doing the sleezy dream girl dress up thing... anything other than that is not very fun. The candy being around is making me huge too... it needs to go away. I feel powerless over it.
